Eyelid/Facial Laceration Repair
Dr. Liu has helped thousands of individuals achieve their cosmetic goals and discover renewed confidence.
Lacerations are one of the most common eyelid and facial injuries. Meticulous repair of the laceration by an oculofacial plastic surgeon who is an expert in eyelid and facial anatomy is important to maximize function while minimizing scarring. When the injury involves the tear drainage system, the repair should happen right away to prevent permanent damage and to preserve the tear drainage system. Dr. Liu individualizes the repair to each wound, location, and situation to achieve the best functional and aesthetic result possible.
Laceration repair is typically performed using local anesthesia in Dr. Liu’s procedure room or under sedation at an off-site surgery center, but only in very rare cases would general anesthesia be used.
There are several techniques that Dr. Liu uses, depending on the size, depth, and placement of the wound. Because Dr. Liu has such specialized training, she has access to a number of techniques that are not utilized by most other doctors, and she may mix and match these techniques to get the best outcome. The specific techniques that Dr. Liu uses will be selected based on your needs.
Laceration repair typically takes less than an hour from start to finish.
After laceration repair, there may be some scarring in the area of the wound, however, Dr. Liu will try to minimize scarring as much as possible by using meticulous closure techniques. Non-specialized surgeons typically have results with more visible scarring.

Dr. Liu is a master micro-surgeon. It’s been two months since my operation and no one has suspected I had plastic surgery. I look ten years younger, my husband is thrilled and so am I. A dear friend of mine jut told me I look just as beautiful as I did when we first met over 40 years ago. I couldn’t be happier with the results and worth every penny and the few weeks of discomfort. So glad I chose Dr. Liu.

Dr. Liu & her staff are top notch! I felt welcomed from the moment I set my appointment until my chalazion removal procedure was complete. Dr. Liu did a great job of letting me know what to expect & ensuring I was comfortable throughout the procedure. Everything healed perfectly – great work!
